Morris Lane supports local driver at Silverstone

15 August 2010

Piranha Motorsport driver Chris Bialan from Poole was fastest in official practice for the latest round of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, but qualifying overall was badly affected by another racer spinning on the pit lane exit and blocking the road. When it was cleared the rain came and that was the end of decent qualifying times for the racers.

Racing in the G4 class, Chris took the race start in the Piranha Motorsport Lotus 2-11 and had a great tussle with the Stark Racing Ginetta G50 of Ian Stinton. Unfortunately Ian came off better. Chris was later hit by a KTM XBow, which dislodged the Piranha car’s rear diffuser. This necessitated a return to the pits to remove it, which lost 2 laps early on and ended any chance of getting back into the lead of the championship.

Piranha ended up 4th in class on the day and Chris and co-driver Simon Mason now lie 3rd in the championship, 10.5 points behind the leaders with only 3 races to go.
