We are one of the largest training offices in Dorset for the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) and we help train and develop the skills of our staff members, aiming at professional qualifications and, of course at the same time keeping skills and knowledge of the relevant legislation up to date.

Trainee Chartered Accountant - The Role:

As a Trainee Chartered Accountant, you will embark on a comprehensive and structured training program that will equip you with the knowledge and skills required to excel in the field of accounting. You will work closely with our experienced team and receive mentoring from qualified Chartered Accountants. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Conducting audits and financial reviews for a diverse range of clients.
  • Assisting in tax planning and compliance.
  • Gaining proficiency in accounting software and tools.

We are seeking a motivated and aspiring individual to join our tax team undertaking both Corporate and private client work with a passion for tax.

Tax Assistant - The Role:

As a Tax Assistant, you will play an integral role in supporting the firm’s tax team by handling compliance tasks and assisting with various tax advisory projects. The role is ideally suited to an individual with experience in both corporate and personal tax within an accountancy practice who is keen to further their skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation and filing of both corporation and income tax returns for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring adherence to all regulatory deadlines and compliance standards
  • Tax Reporting: Support the preparation of quarterly and annual tax reports, maintaining accurate and detailed records for audit and compliance purposes
  • Client Interaction: Communicating with clients to collect necessary documentation, answer queries and provide general tax support.
  • Team: Stay up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations and provide administrative and technical support to our team of accountants

Candidate Requirements:

  • A minimum of one year’s experience in a tax assistant role within an accountancy practice in the UK
  • Relevant qualification such as AAT, ATT, CTA
  • A solid understanding of UK Tax and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office products, notably Excel
  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiasm for accounting and a willingness to embrace challenges.

Tax Manager (Mixed) - The Role:

The role is ideally suited for an individual with experience in both corporate and personal tax (although not essential to have both) within an accountancy practice who is keen to apply their skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the tax partner on complex tax matters including research
  • Preparation and filing of both corporation and income tax returns for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring adherence to all regulatory deadlines and compliance standards
  • Communicating with clients, answering queries and provide general tax support.
  • Stay up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations and provide administrative and technical support to our team of accountants
  • Identifying opportunities for tax planning, risk mitigation and assisting with any other ad hoc projects and duties as may reasonably be required.
  • Oversee a tax assistant and help them develop

Candidate Requirements:

  • The successful candidate is likely to be fully CTA qualified with 4 years existing client facing experience in a practice environment
  • Have a solid understanding of UK Tax and compliance requirements
  • A proactive approach to problem solving
  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiasm for tax and a willingness to embrace challenges.
